Public Relations event in New York at Gramercy Tavern.
In May, Jim Schiltz went to New York and met up with our dear friend and publicist Howard Helmer (who happens to be The World's Fastest Omelet Maker!). They set up lunches at Gramercy Tavern (ranked #6 on New York's Magazine's list of New York City's best restaurants!) with different food editors (Ladies Home Journal, Nation's Restaurant News, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart Everyday Food, Food Arts, Restaurant Business, Everyday with Rachel Ray, Kraft Food & Family, Womans Day, Good Housekeeping, PBS/Good Morning America, Family Circle, Redbook, Food Network Magazine, Working Mother, and All You). Sous Chef Geoffrey Lazlo made up an amazing menu for this special event:

Goose Party at Brookings, SD Hy-Vee
In April, we were invited to go to Brookings, SD Hy-Vee Store with Brookings radio personality Grant Peterson and Jane Green. They were looking for rendered goose fat for a recipe and found us. Linda went to the beautiful Hy-Vee in Brookings and they did a small demonstration and sold product to the people that came. Jane Green also writes for the Farm Forum magazine, so here is her article:
Our Whole Smoked Goose was shot to be in the film El Cielo, with Mexican actors (who are new to American film) Miguel Rodarte, Stephanie Sigman and Osvaldo Benevides (not pictured). Our food blogger friend Deana Sidney from Lost Past Remembered blog, is also a production designer for films. She was very surprised when the script she got had a goose scene in it! She contacted us knowing our goose would be perfect. We sent a second goose for the crew to eat and it was a huge hit with them.
On February 26, 2012, our Smoked Goose Breast was featured at the South Beach Food & Wine Festival in a recipe for Golden Deviled Egg with Smoked Goose Breast by Chef Gary Lampner of Egg Whites Catering. He said the eggs were the hit of the show! Read about the festival and Chef Gary here:
On February 17, 2012, we had the honor of being invited to and recognized at the White House in Washington, DC by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's "Recognition of Manufacturing Success in Rural America." We received the Certificate of Appreciation from the USDA Rural Business and Cooperative Service for "providing employment opportunities and economic growth through manufacturing in Rural America."
Goose was featured in the December 2011 issue of Saveur Magazine. We sent some geese to Chef Brian Alberg of the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and he made these recipes using goose products: Christmas Goose with Stuffing, Goose Confit Salad, Goose Liver Terrines, Rosemary Popovers, and Turnips with Candied Bacon. Check them out at http://www.saveur.com/article/Techniques/Christmas-Goose/2, or by going into our "Recipes" section.

Featured in "Sneakers" Movie!
In 1991, Jim Schiltz, co-owner, provided to Dave McMillan, Worldwide Movie Animals, Inc., Hollywood, CA, 1,000 lively, talkative, good-natured geese. The geese were used for the movie "Sneakers", which was produced by Universal Studios. The movie "Sneakers" stars Robert Redford, Sidney Portier, Dan Akroyd, River Phoenix and David Stratharin.
A high-tech caper about an offbeat security team takes off on a dangerous mission to steal a "black box". Robert Redford is the team leader and his character at one point is looking for a "cocktail party", which was actually our 1,000 "talkative" geese.
